Bangalore, Feb 27 : The high quality Indian IT ecosystem, which had created a host of benefits for the global corporate, cannot be wished away by the West and protectionism tactics that had resurfaced in the wake of global economic crisis will not be sustainable, Infosys CEO and MD S Gopalakrishnan said today.
He was reacting to newly elected US President Barack Obama threatening the companies in his country that they would lose the tax benefits if they 'shipped USjobs outside'.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Annual Members Day of the CII Karnataka Chapter, he however said one has to wait and see what Mr Obama really meant, if so how he was going to implement it and how it is made into a policy.
"We should note that Mr Obama also spoke about the bad effects of protectionism in this very speech. He is fully aware how protectionism could be problematic in the present circumstances (of globalised world). He is aware of this as evidenced by his speech," he said.
